The Last Supper And The Garden

After the Palm Sunday walk, Jesus went to a temple and taught there, answering the Pharisees and chief priests (He even overturned some tables, see Matthew 21:12).

Mark 14:12-15 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread…His disciples said to Him, “Where do you want us to prepare, that You may eat the Passover?” (15) “Then he will show you a large upper room…”.

The disciples went into the city and found a man, who brought all of them, and Jesus, to this room (or a room like it).  There, Jesus broke bread and blessed it, and drank from the cup (Luke 14:22&23).  Jesus told them that one of them would betray Him (Judas) and that Peter would deny Him (14:18, 30).  Then, after the supper had ended, Jesus washed their feet (John 13:8).

Mark 14:32 Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane.

This is the garden of Gethsemane.  It seemed to us like it should have been bigger, which it probably was back in Jesus’ day, considering there’s a church on the other side.  But I digress.

This is where Jesus prayed, “Let this cup pass from Me,” (Matt. 26:39), He sweat blood (Luke 22:44), and Judas betrayed Him (22:48).
