Mom crossed one more item off of her bucket list: she lit a lantern, and sent it to the sky. That’s something she had been wanting to do forever, and on her birthday weekend, she did it.
We signed up to volunteer for the event, called Glance, and drove a couple our to a park called Jibtopia, in North Carolina. Everyone there was so nice. The guy who owns the park, Andy, was really laid back and showed us around and answered our questions. Jibtopia is a cable wake park. We were fortunate enough to have a couple people try it out so we could watch. It looked like a lot of fun.
Tobi was the lady we signed up with, and she too was very nice. We had a great time talking to her and asking her questions as well.
Towards the end of the night, Mom grabbed a lantern and we headed out with everyone else who showed up (and there were quite a few people there). It was so beautiful. We had an amazing time, and seeing the sky lit up with all of the lanterns, seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces, it was a very successful evening. And I got my s’mores I’d been wanting for a few years. It was a win win.
Tobi said the next one should be in October. We told her we’d be back.
